Terms Of Service

Welcome to Care Across Continents. These Terms of Service govern your use of our website and any services provided by Care Across Continents. By using this website or engaging our services, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Us

Care Across Continents provides personalised, non-medical support services for elderly loved ones and other adults who may need companionship, accompaniment, practical assistance, and honest feedback for family members or clients. Our services are designed to offer reassurance, connection, and peace of mind.

2. Services We Provide

Our services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Initial visits

  • Regular companionship visits

  • Transport and accompaniment

  • Check-ins and report-back services

  • Special occasion arrangements

  • Post-operative check-ins

  • Once-off or short-term support through Care Around the Corner

All services are subject to availability, location, scheduling, and agreement between Care Across Continents and the client.

3. Non-Medical Service

Care Across Continents is not a medical, nursing, emergency response, or home healthcare provider. We do not diagnose, treat, supervise medication, provide clinical care, or replace professional medical or nursing services. Where appropriate, clients and families remain responsible for arranging doctors, nurses, emergency services, carers, or other healthcare providers. The questionnaire specifically states that the business is not a nursing service.

4. Eligibility and Authority

By booking or requesting services, you confirm that:

  • you are at least 18 years old;

  • you have the authority to request services for yourself or for the person receiving support; and

  • the information you provide to us is accurate and complete.

Where services are requested on behalf of another person, you are responsible for ensuring that all necessary permissions and consents have been obtained.

5. Geographic Availability

Our services are primarily offered in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a particular focus on northern and northwestern areas including Randburg, Fourways, Sandton, and Bryanston. Service availability outside these areas may be considered at our discretion.

6. Appointments and Bookings

Appointments, visits, and check-ins must be booked in advance unless otherwise agreed.

We reserve the right to:

  • accept or decline a booking request;

  • reschedule a visit where necessary;

  • refuse services in situations that are unsafe, inappropriate, outside our scope, or beyond our capacity.

Booking a consultation or submitting a contact form does not guarantee acceptance of a service arrangement.

7. Fees and Payment

Fees are charged according to our current pricing or quotation provided to the client. Pricing may take into account time, travel, mileage, and the nature of the service requested. The questionnaire notes that pricing is based on a schedule of costs, including mileage and time spent, with a specific cost for the initial visit and pro rata charges thereafter.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing:

  • payment is due in advance or within the stated payment period on the invoice;

  • late payments may result in suspension of services;

  • all quoted fees are subject to change with notice.

8. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Clients must provide reasonable notice for cancellations or rescheduling requests.

We reserve the right to charge:

  • a cancellation fee for late cancellations;

  • the full fee where a visit cannot proceed due to no access, no response, incorrect information, or last-minute cancellation.

If we need to reschedule due to illness, emergency, transport disruption, or other unforeseen circumstances, we will make reasonable efforts to arrange an alternative time.

9. Client Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • provide accurate contact, location, and scheduling information;

  • inform us of any relevant health, behavioural, mobility, or safety concerns;

  • disclose any known risks in the home or visit environment;

  • ensure the service recipient is aware of the visit where appropriate;

  • arrange any required medical, nursing, legal, or emergency support separately.

We are entitled to rely on the information provided by the client and family unless we are told otherwise.

10. Scope of Support

Our role is to provide companionship, practical support, accompaniment, and observational feedback. This may include spending time with the service recipient, accompanying them to appointments or outings, and reporting back general observations to the client. The stated purpose of the service is to give families peace of mind through accurate updates and personal support.

We do not guarantee any specific emotional, health, or personal outcome.

11. Feedback and Communication

Where feedback is part of the agreed service, we will provide honest, thoughtful observations based on what we reasonably see and experience during visits. Our feedback is not a medical diagnosis, legal opinion, or professional assessment. The business questionnaire emphasizes accurate updates and honest feedback as part of the service promise.

12. Emergencies

If we encounter a situation that appears urgent or unsafe, we may, at our discretion, contact:

  • the client;

  • a family member;

  • emergency services; or

  • another appropriate third party.

However, clients acknowledge that Care Across Continents is not an emergency response service and should not be relied upon as a substitute for emergency planning or urgent medical support.

13. Safety and Right to Withdraw

We reserve the right to end or refuse any visit or service where:

  • we believe there is a risk to safety;

  • the environment is unsafe or inaccessible;

  • there is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or inappropriate behaviour;

  • the requested support falls outside our scope of service.

In such cases, we may cancel ongoing services immediately.

14. Privacy

Any personal information shared with us through the website, contact form, WhatsApp, email, or during service delivery will be handled with reasonable care and used only for service delivery, administration, communication, and related business purposes.

By using our services, you consent to us collecting and using the information reasonably necessary to provide support, manage bookings, communicate with clients, and maintain service records.

18. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Care Across Continents from claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

  • inaccurate or incomplete information provided by you;
